A Successful Marriage : The Wife's Making - 110/21/2007

Most marriages fail before they start. The central problem is that God wanted and God wants the wife to be a helper to the husband. If she fails to be a helper, she has failed utterly. Unfortunately, many women do not get married in order to be helpers. They get married to be partners. There is a world of difference between the helper and the partner.

There are four marks of a helper which can be stated as follows:
  1. the helper must forget herself;
  2. the helper must see the one she has to help as exalted by the Lord;
  3. the helper must believe the one she has to help from the heart;
  4. the helper must invest her all into the service of the one she is to help.

There are four marks of a helper which can be stated as follows: the helper must forget herself; the helper must see the one she has to help as exalted by the Lord; the helper must believe the one she has to help from the heart; the helper must invest her all into the service of the one she is to help.THE HELPER MUST FORGET HERSELFThe wife who wants to be a helper obviouslyhas gifts,talents,education,diplomas,opportunities,etc,to do many things for herself. If she wants to be a helper, she must forget doing anything for herself and must do everything to do everything for him. She cannot be trying to do everything for him and doing something for herself. If she wants to help him to succeed and wants to help herself to succeed, she will be divided at heart and there will be confusion. The wife who wants to be a helper must forget herself completely. She must concentrate on him.Beloved reader, let me ask you a personal question, "Do you want to be a helper?" Let me ask you another question, "Have you forgotten yourself? Have you decided to concentrate on helping him?" If you have not decided to forget yourself, you might as well stop reading. The rest of the book will not help you.The Lord Jesus came into this world as God's Helper. The Bible says of Him, *Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death -even death on a cross!+ (Philippians 2:5-8).The Lord Jesus made Himself nothing! The Lord Jesus took the nature of a servant. The Lord Jesus humbled Himself. The Lord Jesus became obedient. * The wife who is a helper will make herself nothing. * The wife who is a helper will take the form of a servant. * The wife who is a helper will humble herself. * The wife who is a helper will be obedient.
